What Even Is This Bass Tone?

Fat Mike has gone through a lot of basses over the years but I can't even figure out how you get this tone. At the time live (around 1995 - 1997) he was using a G&L SB-1 and a double humbucker Stingray at one time but this to me doesn't sound like either. Even though Mike used mostly precision type basses (with a few exceptions) this sounds almost like a Jazz bass.
