I was searching around and didnt realize that Acoustic USA remade the Acoustic 360/361! Are they available or does anyone know what happened?

I know the bassist for Blackberry Smoke plays through two of them.

Try looking up Acoustic USA on Facebook. There was a forum too but I can't remember the exact name.

IIRC they were being sold direct for about $5K.

Got my hands on a 69 earlier this year. It is sick.

  9. The owner had a fair bit of crazy, and little business sense...

    5K is list.
Talk to George to find out what kind of deal he might make this week.

George is a good guy, and those amps are fantastic. I haven't talked to George for a while, so I don't know what is going on. I know he had to renegotiate when Guitar Center changed hands, but I don't know the outcome. It's a bit ironic that he was working on reviving the Acoustic name and doing it right before Guitar Center came along with their Chinese made Acoustic line, but corporate America gets what corporate America wants.

    Not actually named Phil
Gotta say, that video from NAMM does nothing for me; it's 3 minutes of talk, and 30 seconds of buddy playing ridiculous slap/lead lines....hardly what I'd call a comprehensive demo!

And $5000 for one of those is well and truly insane. Unless their business model is to sell 1 every 6 months!

What Gaolee said, both as regards the backstory with GC and George's willingness to work with customers. I just bought the full 360/361, and it's all that. And for what it would have cost to get it through George's shipper, he had a fellow Acoustic USA enthusiast hand-deliver it to my practice room in Wichita.

It is a stunning amp. Truly. So glad I have that and the mini 360/361M. Best units I've ever owned in 32 years of playing.

    Here's a head-to-head comparison I did between the original 360/361 and the USA 360/361M.

    I like 5, 8, 10, and 12 string basses
There is a guy here in Denver who has one of the new Acoustic amps and a couple of the old ones. I got to play through them all. the new amp sounds great.

A friend of mine started selling them at his shop, and I think he wants $2700 or $2800 for it. Good amp. Not my thing but it's quite good.

There is no reason to insult George or the work he and others did to recreate and improve an iconic and excellent rig from days gone by.

His way of communicating and poor marketing did not do a lot to help successfully launch these products and it's a pity. I for one would still love to be able to try them out one day.

  19. I remember seeing Flea planking on top of a set of them. Then a month later he was still playing GK. I thought that was weird.

I have a 360 preamp I bought off of eBay last year for $200. Was told it might not work. It works fine. Sounds great! Fuzz and tuning fork work too. Trying to find a used 361 or even one of those 361m. They probably should've made the new ones smaller. The preamp is mostly empty space.
