Ok ive seen that video making fun of the "WASSSUPPP" commercials with "WASABIIIIIIII" and ive seen some idiot on Jackass: The Movie snort some of it. But after all this I still have no clue what wasabi is. Is it a vegetable or alcoholic drink? I don't know. Please inform me. Peace

Real wasabi is a very very strong puree/sause made of japanese horseradish (which is naturally green).

Most wasabi that you buy in stores is regular horseradish puree/sause with green food coloring.

as in so strong, it can permanantly damage your nasal nerves if you snort it like they did on jackass.

as in so hot, its like a red hot branding iron being rammed up your nose if you snort it like they did on jackass.

i dont think the guy on jackass (stevo??) needs to worry about hurting himself. it seems like he'd be too dumb to notice anyway.

    Wasabi is awesome.
    I love that stuff.

Basically it is a condiment for Sushi.

Japanese horseradish. Awesome nasal passage clearer!

  11. Like many have said above but if you like the hot stuff you should definately find a good sushi bar and give it a try.

Start small though... it will mess you up!

Do not eat it on its own though. Try it on a piece of sushi like suggested. Even a small amount will mess you up if it is alone.

    My thoughts exactly!!!

  17. Used in Moderation to start or suffer, of course mixing soy sauce with Wasabi, then one's favored Sushi and Ginger.

It's not the same kind of hot as tobasco and other pepper products. They have oils that cause burning sensation in you gums and tongue; this is more about gases that go up into your nasal passages when you eat the food, and burn.

Think more along the lines of hot mustard (mmm, BBQ pork with some hot mustard and sesame seeds!) and plain old horseradish.

If hot peppers are like sticking your tongue on a hot burner, hot mustard / horseradish is more like you had gas fumes in your sinuses, and you just lit them. *fwoof*

One good thing about this stuff is it doesn't burn on the way back out. ;)

And it'll clean out the nasal passages rather well...
