there was the japanes made '70s tribute with b'n'b neck, though it mave have been the typical precision width nut. there was also the custom shop precision bass pro (i think is the model) that had what you're describing in the '70s style but with a jazz pickup in the bridge. there's also the Duck Dunn signature p-bass.

    *edit*
    here's the '70s p

I put the neck from my '69 Jazz on my '67 P-bass back in '70. Sold both long ago. :crying:

  6. Yes, that bass has the Precision width nut, at 1.625".

the Pete Wentz Squier is the only one that I've found that has the 1.5 inch nut, but no blocks or binding. Everything else is 1.625 or in the case of the Nate 1.615. I love the Lakland, but that is a little rich for me.

I got that Lakie for $750 in like-new condition. Not super cheap, but way reasonable for that quality. Your budget may vary.

Too bad Lakland had to screw it up with that dang oval bridge. Yes, it's shallow to dislike a bass because of the bridge. Sue me.
