what fender bass is this?

    My friends has a fender jazz made in U.S.A.
    but it's not normal.

    it has 22 frets !!
    not deluxe fender.
    E+5digits serial NO.

    What bass is this ?

    I believe the standard MIA Fenders had 22 frets for a while. I wanna say like mid-90s, but I don't know.

    Fender made some 22 fret regular American basses for a bit. Probably just one of those.

    Late 80s/early 90s "longhorn" or "banana" made in USA standard Jazz Bass with an aftermarket BadassII bridge. Nice bass!

    The Jazz Bass Standard of the early 1990s (right after US bass production was restarted) had 22 frets. This was the same time the Jazz Plus, Precision Plus and JP-90 models were introduced.

    When the "American Standard" models came out a few years later (together with the American Deluxe models) the J-bass went back to 20 frets.
