I personaly like a Highly figured flame like on Nino's standard Sadowsky for a top or another kind of quilt that almost looks like tinny sea shells that Roger Sadowsky uses on his basses. And if i was going to go with a neck of figured maple i would say bids eye maple for a neck, multi laminate or reinforcments for extra strength ;) . So what all suits your fancy's.

Roger sure does get some nice tops

  6. Curly and quilt don't do it for me.

    Flame does. :)

  7. I'm not too crazy about quilts and curlies either. A rich flame, especially one with a lot of "texture", is amazing.

  9. I'm a quilt guy all the way! Man you have to love the job they are doing on those Ritter basses, eh?
I agree there is no bad maple, other than non-figured. :)

I have a real soft spot for quilted maple! Flamed is nice. Birdseye maple can look good on a neck, but I've seen some where it makes te neck just look dirty!

Definitiely a quilted maple kinda guy.......

I dig the bird's eye maple on my neck see here.

    Same!

The curly/quilted/flaming maple just doesn't do it for me.
