what happened to my cabinet??

yesterday I was playing live, then after some songs my cabinet started sounding really weird... it sounded like I had a distortion pedal on and like my strings were hitting the pickups...

someone told me "it's an eq problem, you don't know how to setup yuor amp and the speakers can't handle your sound"

well, I play a passive jazz, the amp is a 400w all tube marshall, the cabinet is a 4x 12' marshall, made for this head, so it can handle the power.

    my settings were..

    bass and treble: flat

    middle: 3 o' clock

    gain: 12 o'clock

    volume 10 o'clock

this doesn't seem too hard to handle for a cabinet to me...

    what could have happened??

    a broken speaker?

or is it really an eq problem??

should I buy another head/cabinet? my cab is a "cheap" one (600 euros - I think that's nearly 700 dollars)... that isn't much for a 4x12' cab... but I think it should work anyway....
  2. Check your speaker cable first. I had the same problem with my mesa boogie m2000 and a RR cab in a live situation last year. Thank god it was only the cable. :bassist:
  3. maybe one of the tubes are damaged, check them out.
