I was wondering if anyone knows which harmonics exactly Jaco is using in the first part of birdland???....when he plays a melody, then plays it again using harmonics. If anyone knows of somewhere i can get a description or a chart, I'd appriciate it!! Thanks!

Well - he plays the tune both times using artifical harmonics. The first time he is playing the tune with the artificial harmonics subdividing the string in half, with his thumb - just above where the 12th fret would be and then he plays more or less the same thing with his left hand, while moving his thumb up nearer to the bridge, to push the actual notes you hear up an octave.

If you use the search facility you will find that this has been discussed many times before on here.
