Okay, I love da funk and want to know if you guys could let me know of some bands/musicians that I absolutely need to get my hands on. I really dig most forms of jazz (especially Bebop and samba), fusion, rock, and motown (RnB). My collection includes Herbie Hancock, Jamiriqou (spelled that wrong), Marcus Miller, SLy Stone, hopefully soon to have some Dizzy Gilispie, Vic Wooten, Stanley Clark, Incubus, Level 42, RHCP, and some other I can't think of right now.

    What am my missing?
If you could let me know by category that would be great
    i.e. Jazz - Louis Armstrong
Funk - Graham Central Station, Tower of Power, etc...
    Hip Hop -
    Rock -

    Thanks in advance!

Oh man....there are COUNTLESS bands to dig into (and several TB threads on the subject as well), but I'll give you some of my Funk faves:

    Parliament/Funkadelic
    Bootsy's Rubber Band
    Brides of Funkenstein
    Slave
Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals (bassist Juan Nelson!!)
    Lakeside (bassist Marvin Craig)
    Dazz Band
The Brothers Johnson (bassist Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson)
    Cameo
Tom Browne (bassist 17 year old Marcus Miller)
    Tower of Power
    Brass Construction
    D-Train
The Time (Prince and Terry Lewis)
some early Prince (Dirty Mind album)
    Digable Planets
    Tribe called Quest

I could go on...but this is a start. No doubt others will be along shortly to add some quality acts.
