what is clipping

    clipping is something amps do, so i have no idea why this is in bassists.

  3. Clipping is when the power amp in your head runs out of power and can't deliver the signal level that the pre-amp is telling it to deliver. In other words if you are getting clipping you need a more powerful amp to give you some headroom.

    Tranny amps clipping sound Orrible and it doesn't do your speakers much good either. Speakers don't like a distorted signal.

    Valve amps clipping produce a much nicer overdriven sound which a lot of people find quite desirable.
