what is clipping

    clipping is something amps do, so i have no idea why this is in bassists.

    Clipping is when the power amp in your head runs out of power and can't deliver the signal level that the pre-amp is telling it to deliver. In other words if you are getting clipping you need a more powerful amp to give you some headroom.

    Tranny amps clipping sound Orrible and it doesn't do your speakers much good either. Speakers don't like a distorted signal.

    Valve amps clipping produce a much nicer overdriven sound which a lot of people find quite desirable.
