not mentioning compressor (some people would argue that compressor is not an effect) but what is the most used effect? octave maybe?
Basically, this. And I'm afraid there's not even room for discussion... Well, it's the internet, so it will obviously be discussion But you get the point
Is that like Bachman-Turner Overdrive, now with just effects only in the name? In my opinion, I would have to say overdrive as well. Whether from a pedal (which I realize is what the OP asked) or from slamming the input of a tube head or preamp, with a boost, hot pickups, and/or playing technique.
Fuzz. Octave. Envelope. Chorus/flange/phase. The answer is OD, but I feel we’ve covered that already.
I feel pretty inadequate, I seldom use overdrive... but it's been a few years since I've played Heavy Polka.
If you were to say just recorded bass tones, you’d be amazed to hear how many have OD slapped onto them in the studio. Even “clean” tones. In my eyes, OD is probably used as often as compression. If not a close second, it would def be a distant second to comp.
I use the OD the most when using pedals. But if i could only bring one pedal it would be an OC-2. I can go back to clean only. But i would miss the octave.
