what exactly is a passive bass and what exactly is a active bass? some amps have 2 jacks and one says passive and the other says active. what is an example of a passive bass and an example of a active bass? sorry if this was posted b4. i searched but didnt find any.
  2. An active bass can easily be defined as one that uses a battery (thus making a passive bass being one that doesn't use a battery). They usually have an onboard preamp. Some have a higher output than passive basses, thus the extral input on some amps.

Or you could just follow Jazz Ad's link... :(
