I think Guy Pratt is an excellent bassist too, but he's more of a producer now..

Here is the gear he used for the Division Bell tour :
    1951 Fender Precision Bass
    1963 Fender Jazz bass
    Spector NS2
Status five-string fretted and fretless basses
    Trace Elliot MPII computerized preamp
    JBL UREI power amps
    Hartke 4 x 10-inch cabinets
    Yamaha SPX-90 & SPX-990 multi-FX
    Boss SCC-700 control unit

  8. He's not really their new bassist. He has been playing with them for over ten years. I know he played on the "Delicate Sound of Thunder" live album, but I don't know if he played with them before that.

Exact, Guy Pratt has never been a member of the band. He just play with them on tour and also played on the Division Bell album.
Pink Floyd has no bassist since Roger Waters left.
On A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, that was Tony Levin who recorded the bass parts, but as he couldn't follow the band for the world tour, they asked Guy Pratt to do the job..

Guy is currently playing for Roxy Music, and has been working on David Gilmours new album.

BTW, Guy is married to Richard Wright's daughter.

I saw "The Delicate Sound Of Thunder" and "Pulse" and I must say that to me, the latter is a greater show from the visual aspect, but I like TDSOF versions more, with the exception of "Another Brick In The Wall Part II" which has that cool, funky section in "Pulse" with an excellent slap-style foundation by Guy. Great version!

Guy also recorded the bass tracks for the original tunes from the "Rock Star" movie with Mark Wahlberg. When you see that band playing their songs, that's Guy on bass (not the actor, just the recordings).

  13. Pink Floyd are reforming with Roger Waters for the 'live 8' concerts.

He also played some amzing bass in a group called Toy Matinée which featured Patric Leonard (madonna etc.) and the late amazing Kevin Gilbert (www.kevingilbert.com who also were an amazing bassplayer, my fav.) Very catchy pop tunes good production and nasty bassplaying by Mr Pratt

    Go check out!

    ;)
