Pointless information, of course, but entertaining to think about nonetheless . Some people here own a lot of basses and some other people own some very old basses. I'm curious to know what the average age and highest combined age of TBers bass guitar collections is. Re: Upright basses: If you're voting in the poll, please don't include any upright basses (as they can be very old and "skew" the figures somewhat), but please do add a post and tell us what age your entire collection (including uprights) would be . Anyway, I won't "win" this one, but I worked out today that the combined age of my (9) basses is 157 years old ! What about yours? Post your comments, or just vote in the poll, please. (Photos also welcome here)!
Sheesh! I am a newbie! My 6 Basses total a grand old age of 11!!!! My 2 EBMM are 2 and 3 years old, my Lakland is about 3, my Fender Geddy, SX and Ibanez are all just a year old!
mmm.. Fender from around 74/75/76/77 and a late 2006/early 2007 Listerud. i dunno how to count it. since the neck on the fender is stamped 1 week of 77, i guess i have to say 31. (the P bass being 30 and a half, and the Listerud being a half)
Less than one year. I sold all my vintage basses. Bought in Sept. 20006. Custom fretless 4-string. Bought in 2007. Two USA Laklands. Decade, and Glaub. Azola Bug II EUB.
Amazing stats, thanks for your post tkoazl. How old is your oldest bass, out of interest (and what is it)? P.S. What's the name of your store ?
Mojo-Man, I see that you own a time machine ! Could I borrow it please? I have to visit 1951, to do a "spot of bass guitar shopping" .
I have several basses with the oldest being from the 70s(Acoustic Black Widow), 80s(Spellbinders), 90s(fenders,CTs), 2000s( Birdsongs, foderas,F bass,Warrior, Ritter, K Smith and others)...they can be viewed here.. http://ctbass.birdsong.googlepages.com/bass Approx. 350 years...
No store! Most of them are listed in my profile, I have a 65 J, a 64 P, some early 70's stuff, and I started playing back in 1980, so thats when I started...
No, I didn't vote yet. I would need to go through them and figure out exactly what year some of them are. I wasn't ready for such a tough question this morning. Probably won't get to it until over the weekend. A rought gestimate puts things at about 175. EDIT, I can't even spell this morning, forget about addition
I was hoping that this thread would attract you, CTbass&birdsong . I never get tired of looking at your basses.
Yes, I read your profile first, but I wondered what the "closet" items were ..... Still, some tasty sounding stuff in that list. Any pictures ............ ?
