Does the "NJ" stand for New Jersey?
Provided you know how to use it. Otherwise, it's the Pied Piper's magic mountain.
To me these designs suggest serpent's heads in profile.
1. Fender (P/Jazz).
2. Rickenbacker (4001/4003)
3. Music Man (Stingray/Sterling).
The most awful? Only one:
1/2/3. Moolloon ... it seems the face of rhino without the horn ...

That is typically only seen on the 4001 models. Most 4003 models (maybe all of them; not sure) lack the walnut strip.
I like the Devon Headstocks
The 4001 basses had the skunk strip up until whatever year in the early '80s they ceased to be made. (Of course I'm excluding the Chris Squire 4001 model, which has a totally different manufacturing timeline.)
