It's not strong enough to power most power amps adequately.

It is used to give passive basses the flexibility and shaping capabilities of active basses. ;)

It's just an active preamp for passive basses. In fact the inside is identical to the OBP-1 active preamp.

  4. Nice sounding unit at that!

  5. Thats exactly what it is. It adds active tone controls to any bass you plug into. It isn't strong enough to drive a power amp on it's own, but let me tell you this thing sounds great. I wish I never sold mine but I needed money and it was not a necessary part of my signal chain.

Like said here, it gives you the option to have a passive bass with the ability to use an active pre-amp with it. I can use it with all my passive basses and unlike the other onboard pre's it does not color your sound. When I use it with my Marcus Miller jazz I put the MM jazz in passive with the Aggie pre and walla it sounds better than ever!
