I play in an 80's show band and I am looking for the bass that epitomises the 80's. Any genre of music. Submit pics if you'd like. If you have anything for sale , let me know as well.
Personally, I think my Steinberger XL-2 is a timeless classic, but it's often called an '80s bass, since that's when they were most popular, and a lot of bassists played them at the time.
a p bass! wait, no, that's 70's...60's...um...90's...um... actually, i would agree that nothing calls back the 80's for me more than the steinberger d
Me too, I had one as my first bass and it was a superb instrument. I to this day prefer 24 fret basses because of it, I wish I still had it I tried one of the anniversary ones at the Bass Cellar in London a few months back and the build quality was nowhere near the old ones. Seems you and I have a bit in common Bassybill...
The ultimate 80's bass? Without a doubt, the Kubicki ExFactor! Even though it's an 80's design, it still looks fresh and funky but with a definite 80's vibe.
Steinberger XL2 or one of the many clones. The Kubicki isn't a bad second choice. And they're both great basses. I have one of each.
Either my L2 Steinberger or the Kubicki Factor 4 which I wish I never sold twelve years ago... later... RC
