I play in an 80's show band and I am looking for the bass that epitomises the 80's. Any genre of music. Submit pics if you'd like. If you have anything for sale , let me know as well.

  2. If it's 80's metal I'd say a BC Rich Warlock.

I would say the yamaha bb basses really remind me of the 80's also steinbergers.

Personally, I think my Steinberger XL-2 is a timeless classic, but it's often called an '80s bass, since that's when they were most popular, and a lot of bassists played them at the time.

I always think 80's when I see Aria's of the SB-1000 vintage, as used by the guy in Duran Duran...

Me too, I had one as my first bass and it was a superb instrument. I to this day prefer 24 fret basses because of it, I wish I still had it :bawl: I tried one of the anniversary ones at the Bass Cellar in London a few months back and the build quality was nowhere near the old ones. Seems you and I have a bit in common Bassybill...

  13. Nothing screams 'Miami Vice!!!' more than a blue'n'gold '81 Precision Special...

The ultimate 80's bass? Without a doubt, the Kubicki ExFactor! Even though it's an 80's design, it still looks fresh and funky but with a definite 80's vibe.

Steinberger XL2 or one of the many clones.
The Kubicki isn't a bad second choice.
And they're both great basses. I have one of each.
