Ok all you wood nuts is this Flamed Maple, Quilted Maple or abit of both??
That is quilt. Very good grade, too. Modulus has some of the prettiest maple tops.
Just "flamed" (accuracy/detail isn't much for digital pics on the web are)
Ill take the best of three!!
Does it matter - it's maple. it looks nice - what more do you need to know?
It won't affect the sound and it looks the way it looks, so who cares?
I want the Modulus that i get to have a similar looking top so it would be helpful to say "i would like it with a so and so top" insted of saying "i want it with the same top as the bass on your website".
Well surely the latter is the sensible option - presumably that's why they put the pic on the website - precisely so people could say - like the one on your website please!
Alright im gonna be a smartass here but i dont think i would ever be able to get one just like that one. Considering the fact that wood is a natural product and no 2 pieces are the same.
Sorry for being a smartass but the doctor said i have to be once a day.
Ok from my extremely limited experience i think it is quilted. Damn i just answered my own question! i hate it when that happens.
Looks quilted to me. It looks a lot like the quilt on my Yamaha.
Ain't that the bass that's on their BP ads?
But anyways, I think that's rather quilted than basic flamed maple, on which the wood patterns are very narrow and run in tight pattern.
Just tell the Modulus guys you want nice quilted top and I bet anything that comes out is beautiful.
I did just that when I took a chance some years ago
and ordered direct from Modulus (no importer in Sweden).
I'm very happy with what they sent me...
You did answer it, albeit with the wrong answer.
This is what a flamed Mod looks like -
This is what a quilted Mod looks like -
This is what the top you are talking about looks like -
The flame you're looking at is what is called a "curly" flame. True quilts have "pillows" or "clouds" and the Mod you have pictured is a long way from that figuring.
