I know there are a bazillion pedals that are OD>Distortion or Distortion/Bass, but do you have a favorite pure distortion pedal for bass?

So far, I have these on my list:

    MXR M85 Bass Distortion
    Source Audio Aftershock Bass Distortion
    Source Audio Soundblox2 Bass Distortion
    Fender Trapper Bass Distortion

I really enjoy my Mastotron, Aftershock, Barbershop and Ezekiel. My most used is certainly my Aftershock.

I wish the fat box of rocks was much fatter.

So far, I have these bass DISTORTION pedals on the list:

    EHX Bass Big Muff Pi
    EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff
    EHX Nano Bass Big Muff
    Fender Trapper Bass Distorti
Heavy Electronics El Oso Crushing Bass Distortion
    MXR M85 Bass Distortion
    Source Audio Aftershock Bass Distortion
Source Audio Soundblox 2 Bass Distortion

I have tried and liked some of the other suggestions, but as noted, I'm trying to learn of bass distortion pedals...

Vandal bass distorsion by Providence. It only does mid to full-blown distorsion. A kinda one-trick poney, same features as Free The Tone Bass Blaster, but higher gain.

(Edit) I just had a look on your list, fuzz pedals are a different thing to me, even if i get how a creamy muff can fill up the same spaces as a distorsion pedal in a mix.

  7. The damnation audio MBD does distortion well, and so does the fuzzrocious cat tail.

Damnation Audio MBD-1. I just picked up a Locust Star a couple weeks back and it's quickly becoming a favorite as well.

The current distortion on my board is a DOD Boneshaker. Only good if you're looking for medium- to high-gain distortion, but if that's what you want, well, it's a beast.

At some point I'd like one with a little more range and pretty much all the demos I've heard of the Darkglass Alpha-Omega sound like what I'm looking for, so that'll probably be my next distortion pedal.

I also have an EHX Bass Big Muff Pi, but I think of that as a fuzz, not a distortion.

I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
My current favorites are Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive for old school dirt and DSM Noisemaker SubAtomic for modern dirt. Plus they work well together for me when I feel like chasing that gnarly DP/ King's X sound.

I'm totally cool with the thread...I'm here for it :)!
For a peek behind the curtain, most companies just put "bass" on products for marketing. There are exceptions like Damnation and Darkglass that are bass-specific brands.
Sometimes the addition of a clean blend is all that makes a distortion a bass distortion.
