What is your opinion on this nut/string spacing

  1. I've never seen the G-string almost off the fretboard before.
This is the nut on a new MIM Classic '50s P I just got.
    What do you think?
It looks even worse in person IMHO.

  2. I think the E and G slots are a little too close to the edge for my preference, but then that's all it really is. YMMV.

That G looks a little bit too far over IMO.
    I'd get a new nut.
TUSQ (by graphtech) make a nice pre-slotted replacement.

Are those strings i.e.the E and G slipping off the neck when you play them?

  5. I just got the bass yesterday, I haven't had a problem yet.
I don't use the G-string very often, only on a few songs.
I just happened to look at it when it was in a stand, and thought the G-string sure looks to far off to the side. My '06 Classic P was sitting in a stand next to it ..... so comparing the two ..... the G-string sure looks off to me.

Here's the nut on my '06.

  7. definitley a difference.... hmmmm

  8. bound to be a fluke in there somewhere. Perhaps it was Pedro's last bass for that particular friday and he needed to get home. In any case, replacements are easy to find and should fix you right up.

    That ain't right :rollno:

If it were me, I'd take it back and have em fix 'er up. Should look pretty much like the 06...

  10. I got a pretty good deal on this bass off eBay. It's an '08 or '09.
I have a drummer friend that has a store and is very good with guitars, I'll probably have him swap out the nut.
It does play great. It just looks weird to me ..... and bugs me.

The spacing 'tween the A & D string doesn't look right either.

    Thanks all!
