What kind of ASH is this?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Tihi, Feb 5, 2006.

  1. Hello everybody.
I'm looking at this P body on Ebay.
Is it northern ash or swamp ash? The weight is little over 6 lbs.
Need something to pair it up with my rosewood neck.
I'm no expert, but found on some topics that swamp ash has better tonal characteristics then the northern type.
Also what's the difference to alder?

    Thanks!

  2. it looks like northern to me

  4. Looks like it's seen some hard use, but it's still a nice piece of ash. Like this one girl I dated...

  5. Thanks guyz

  6. I'm don't use a pick, and play mostly some jazz/rock (like Gong, King Crimson...). I don't do any slaping, taping...
Should I look for Ash or Alder P bodies.
    Thanks!
