what kind of bass is bobby valentin the latin bassist playing on this record sleeve??

    Bobby Valentin ,in my opinion, is the greatest electric bass player in the latin field..I' wonder what kind of bass he's playing on this record:

    a couple of years ago I've tried to find out what kind of bass he was playing here:

    they told me it was a modified gibson ripper, but I'm still not sure about it, although he also used a black ripper later on

    Looks alot like an old Gretsch bass to me, however it looks like this is an artists rendering and he may have just taken creative liberties and made something up.

    It does appear to be a painting, but the bass portrayed is pretty close to a mid-1960's Hofner "Verithin" 500/7. Compare here.
