select the bass or basses that you own and play. remember, this is a multiple choice poll, so pick all that apply.

and yes, i'm the only one with the last selection. :D an votes in that selection will mean the voter is lying about their gear - all their votes will be erased.
  2. Just a lowly MIM Jazz for me at the moment.
  3. 4-string fretted! Betcha didn't see that coming!:D

    1 fretless four
    3 fretted fours
    1 fretted five
    1 fretted 6

I also "checked other" fretted for guitar and mandolin. Probably should have checked "other fretless" for DB as well. :D
  5. Fretted 4 and 5, and a fretless 4. Lookin' for fretted and fretless 6's soon.

Fretted fives. I own a couple fretted fours but they feel incomplete to me now.

One day I'll get a fretless five... or convert one of my fretteds.

Right now I'm playing 4 string fretted, 4 string fretless, 5 string fretted, other fretless (I think the Ashbory qualifies as 'other'), and I went ahead and marked 8 string doubled fretless since I'll have one in the next couple of months when Curbow finishes it.

Later this year, or early next year, I'll be adding 6 string fretless to the list, as well.

Good poll! I still play 4's. Even though I'm contemplating the switch with an MTD 535 and maybe picking up an 8-string for kicks, I'm a 4 string guy at heart:D

But, in stores and ads, I see what appears to be a majority of 5's out there and even some 6's, while 4's seem to almost take a back seat.

    Anybody else notice this?

I just brought this up because as of my voting, 4's still outrank 5's in the popularity poll:D
  11. At the moment a fretted & fretless 4, fretted 6, and a fretted 5 that is in the case in the closet. Looking to get a fretless 6 in the near future.

Right now, just me and my two "lonely" fretless 4's. :)
  14. Right now, I play my fretted 4 and 5. I'll eventually get a fretless 4, 5, or both.:) I'm not sure I'll ever get into the 6.
  15. Just the 4 and 5 string fretted for me....yeeeeppp....

    I'd like a fretless one day... while I'm dreaming maybe a pony:p
  16. I play both a fretted and a fretless 4. I'm currently really leaning toward the fretless. I've been playing that almost exclusively the last few months.

I have a 5 string fretted in the works, but, since it's a few months away from completion, I didn't put it in the poll.

    4 5-string fretted
    1 6-string fretted
    1 7-string fretted

Thinking about adding another 6. I wish I had the courage to go fretless, but so far my fretless technique is a living example of microtonal scales!
