What kind of wood is this?

    I found this piece of wood in our shop class, and no one in my class has any idea what kind it is. If its something decent ill make something out of it. Does anyone have any idea? :confused:

  2. Not a real good picture but it looks most likley basswood or poplar.

    Yeah im sorry about the picture. All i can really tell you at the moment is that its really hard to cut on a scroll saw, and just as hard to work with on a lathe. I made a few knobs, and the main color of the wood is a greyish color, much like the color on the end of that chunk of wood.

  6. thats hard wood....no really it looks like poplar. it has that pale greenish look..

    Sorry mate, it's not Alder. Probably some species of Australian lumba.
