    I like Ernie Ball strings. Iv'e only used two kinds before(GHS and Ernie Ball) but I think they are much better strings. There usually like $19 for a set.

    Well, You can go with the super deluxe models, Thomasic Infleld (sp?) which can be about $60, or go with something a little cheaper.

    People seemed pleased with DR strings, as well as Rotosound, D'Addario, and Dean Marklys...if you haven't changed strings, chances are, you're playing on "medium" strings. With the following gauges:
    E= .105 A=.85 D=.65 G=.45
    or something very close. Anyway, strings can run you anywhere between about $12-19 for Fender strings, which are pretty decent, and then upwards. Here is a good place:

    If you're into rock/metal (godsmack IS you name...) I'd say give Ken Smiths a whirl. I hear they're not to shabby in the rock department. For a good lowdown on strings go here: http://www.bassplayer.com/gear/industry.shtml

    and, for changing strings:

    ...after reading, you'll see why there's a whole form dedicated to strings. Good luck...
