I'm putting a GZR P pickup in an old aluminum neck Kramer and would love to use the black speed knobs but think a set screw type knob is probably necessary.

The proper correct solution would be knobs designed for smooth shafts aka knobs with a screw securing them onto the shafts, but I guess it would be possible carefully to drill the hole in the knobs designed with grooved shafts in mind slightly bigger so they could be cramped onto the smooth shafts.

If you chose to do so just be careful that you don't have to use too much force when fitting the knobs on the shafts ending up ruining the pots or drilling the holes in the knobs too big ending up not being able to properly secure the knobs on the shafts.

JAT Custom Guitar Parts makes speed knobs with set screws, but they’re a little pricey.
