  2. Didn't you notice the "E" for Epiphone? :)

    Looks early 70's to me.

  3. Epiphone is the make, as for model, I cant help you. I would speculate it is a muddy sounding beast.

HA! Yep, definitely a 70's model. Played a red one of those my freshman year of high school. The tone was muddy as a crawfish pond...

It looks like it might be the Newport series. From 1961-1968 they were made in the USA. Then from 1977-1979 they were made in Japan.

USA ones are worth about $1,000 near-mint. Japanese ones are about $350 near-mint.

I wanna say that model is called the Coronet. Could be wrong, though.

I used to have one of those and the tone ruled but the neck gave me hand cramps.
I can't remember the name of that model though.

You are right, I think. Epiphone Coronet, MIJ about 1975.

EDIT: Coronet was the American model name. As MIJ, it was apparently called ET-285. Here is a link to the 1974 Epiphone catalog (scroll down): http://www.matsumoku.org/models/epiphone/catalogs/1974/pg5.html
