The pre Ernieball MM'S(Stingray, and Sabre)are the real good ones. The ones that are made now are very overated, and at best average if that good.:spit:
  6. I've played a few Sterlings and thought they were just fine, but my Leo does it for me like no other...

I Think that the Stingray5 is the best Musicman product ever made IMO.

    Bongo. End of story.

No one here has played one yet, so I may be a little premature.;)

What I would give to get back my old white Stingray. You have to play on one to feel how much nicer they were than the new ones, which are not bad. Its like the old "pre CBS" Fenders compared to the newer versions. Also, no matter what tone controls there are, there is a classic "Musicman" tone that you hear best on the Brothers Johnson recordings.

I love em all but the SR5 is my favorite. But the Stingray and Sterling are fantastic. I would love to have any Pre EB Stingray or Sabre as well.

I like the neck on the Sterling best because I mostly play a Jazz. But I love the sounds of the Sabre and miss it really badly. They should bring back the Sabre electronics as an option on the Sterling and forget this Bongo experiment that they are trying just now.:bassist:

And then all will be well.:hyper:

For me, Sterling are the best !
Stingrays are good, but need a mid equalisation !
The good point of Stingrays is the 5th string !

My answer to the poll : StingRay (and more specifically StingRay 5). I definitely fell in deep love with her...

My special statement to irritate PollyBass one more time... :D ;) : far beyond sound, comfort and features, here's below why I love her. Hope ya'll understand...

I've got to go with the one I own, the 1979 Music Man Sabre. However, I'm a big fan of the current Sterlings. The thin, smooth neck and mid control make it a very, very close second. Ultimately, though, I really like the two pickup configuration.[IMG]

Thanks Warkwickben and Infernal Affair. The finish looks nicer in the picture than in reality. Someone refinished the body, but did a sloppy job of applying the finish, so it's kind of bubbley. I'm also ordering a Sabre pickguard to replace the Stingray one that's on there. Still it's pretty cool and it sounds fantastic.
