    I am looking for a white and a black product to use for lines on lined fretless basses. One that won't absorb finish if I wetsand the board. I keep thinking there must be a plastic product. I have always used the purfling from stew-mac and I want something different. What have you used? Thanks ...Tom

    I once filled in the fret slots of a bass I de-fretted with a mixture of talcum powder and epoxy. It worked well, but you have to make sure the slots are cut cleanly or it'll look ragged. If you build it up slightly above the surface, when you sand it down flat it comes out perfect. It won't absorb a finish.

    A word to the wise;

    The plasticizers in styrene will be robbed by any oil that is applied to it and over time it will yellow and crack. You may want to Zpoxy the board to seal to seal it.

    Otherwise, cool idea.
