I've heard alot of you talk about playing other instruments in various threads, so I thought it'd be cool if we could bring them all together. My story isn't very interesting, I played Piano for about five years, quit that and played classical guitar for a little bit until I found the bass... I'm sure yours are alot more interesting, no?
i started with piano then switched to tuba. i play a litle bit of guitar too. but i do really really bad.
weeeel,,, my daddy bought me a guitar (6 string). It was a cold christmas that year In the went os Scotland, and it was a surprise present. now, I am still unsure whether they thought that i would be able to sit down at it and play loads of chords and stuff, but i couldn.t. my dad said he's show me, He has broken all of the strings by lunch time. I was 5. and because of my lack of natural aptitiude i would get no other chance with an instrument untill I became and angst ridden teenager. and i got my bass. it was happy chrstmas, and this year santa gave me a fretless, mmmmmm
Drums. 5-piece Sonor. They're good fun, but heavy, loud and expensive. More heavy and loud, and I live in a poorly-planned (the houses are all a stone's throw from each other) neighborhood, so that limits practice time. The bass is good fun too!
hi well, i play bass, duh. lead guitar, rhythm guitar, can play piano not very good though, some weird new lazer and magnetic instruments that the music store got, couldnt get violin but i want some effects for lead guitar that make it sound like a violin, drums (dont laugh), flute and some pipe thingy the local uni students made. thats all i can think of now so ill update sometime. later Lukas
I play guitar in a band (first gig 17th Nov spam spam lovely spam) I play electric acoustic and have a cheap classical. I do a bit of slide on the acoustic mainly in DADF#AD. I play drums in my 'studio' but not live. I got given a Premier Olympic kit so my sons could learn. I learnt to play as I was too stingy to pay for lessons. My youngest has been playing since 97 and he's only ten now. My oldest boy just picked it up again. He's 13 and a lot of his mates play in bands or are learning guitar etc. I have a harmonium but can only play a handful of root chords on a keyboard. And finally.. I like percussion (cabasa's guiro's shakers tambourines etc). I am however a bass player.
I play drums, guitar, and keys well enough to write or record, but no way in hell will I get on a stage with those instruments. I wouldn't survive the impending onslaught of rocks and garbage!
Years ago I played in a marching band: lead drum, bugle, cavalry trumpet, bass drum, drum major...not all at the sale time, though I know 6 chords on the piano, can play 12 bar riffs on guitar + a few chords. That's my lot. John
huzzah for marching band bass drums!!! i played 4th. lets see...i play bass, drums, guitar well. i play piano, mandolin, banjo and cello marginally. (like someone else said, enough to record with, but not enough to play live or anything) oh yeah and i am a killer kazoo player. jason
Aww, drums are cool. Other instruments I neglected to mention (in order of skill): piano (great for fundamentals and soloing), `ukulele, guitar. Those last two are interchangable. They're both nice and hard.
I also play guitar, penny whistle, low whistle, mess around on the bouzouki, and a little mandolin. Though not in the past three months. Probably a little rusty now.
In jr. high and high school, I played tenor and baritone saxophones. My mom played a 12 string guitar and my dad played a banjo, so I dabbled in both of those growing up, but I laid my hands on my first bass when I was 14, and haven't concentrated on any other instrument since! -72
I have a g***ar and i can play a few songs on that. my first instrument was the kazoo, and then the recorder, and then ...... the bass.
