    Hello,

I just got myself a second hand lefty J bass and wondered what pickguard color would fit (black pickguard is fitted at the moment).
There's quite a few topics on the subject but as I made a quick rendering I thought I would share for others.

    Here we go :

I was gonna say black, or pearloid white. Classy. Maybe anodized gold?

My first choice would be Mint, second is White. I voted for both. Not a fan of the others with that blue.

Many of these pg's would look better if the control plate was black. On Jazz basses with dark finishes I find the chrome plate to be too great a contrast. Especially with the addition of a dark pg. All the dark combinations would look killer with black chrome hardware, or at least a black control plate.
Not wanting to do that, I'd say the white or white MOTS would look best.

The answer is always tort. Short of that, white or black pearl (depending on the vibe you want).

Gold, but I'm a big KC Royals fan, so take that with some salt.

I have a lake placid blue bass that looks beautiful with a mint pearloid guard, best of all worlds!

  18. You don't want to hear what I think, because what you like and what I like are totally different things. I'm saying that because I wouldn't buy a bass that colour. But because you asked, here's my subjective opinion: From the mockups, the only ones I like against that colour body are white and white pearl, and just maybe the parchment.
