...in his Fodera? I just saw him on Conan, and what an amazing tone! I know it's a culmination of things to create the tone, but the heart is the pickups.

I know they're EMG p/j's but are they just the standard off-the-shelf you or I can buy?

Also, where can I find a Mike Pope preamp?

Can you sense a Warmoth made Fodera? ...find out what kind of woods the bass is made out of, the pickups the preamp.....imagine the possibilities!

It would never be a Fodera Monarch, but it would be the closest I'll ever come.

For heavy hauling, usually GMC Tahoes with the deluxe towing package. Maybe a Ford Ranger just around town...

He uses EMG's. I have heard that his preamp is customized.

Vic's bass is an early edition fodera Monarch.
His bass does have EMG PJ pickups with the original fodera preamp. Not the Pope preamp.

    The woods on his bass:
    -Flame maple top
-mahogany body wings with a mahogany tone plate
not sure what types of mahogany. I know they
    are two different types.
-3 peice maple neck (dovetail joint)
    -rosewood fingerboard

When he drives around town he usually uses his
    Nissan Pathfinder.

there is a bass on ebay that is not a fodera but has the pope preamp in it.

    I stand corrected.
    :D :D :D :D

I really am interested in Vic's gear, God knows it's good stuff. I must say that when last I saw the Flecktones live (KSU auditorium, Halloween '99, I know, I know) his sound was crystal clear. 'Course, I have no idea what he was using back then.

Off Topic BTW, I have a cd of that show's 1st set if anyone wants to send me a blank for it.

Wow. That was my first bass too.
