What preamp for my Quantam 5?

    Wondering what you think is the best optuionf or preamp in my soon to be built Quantam 5.......

    Barts with one of the aggie pres. If you can, try go get it with an OPB-1, stack the bass/treble controls, and add a passive high-cut tone control.

    EMGs on a Quantum 5 are just way too far out into the bright and defined area for me. Maybe if all you had was a peavey 1x15, you might need all that definition ...

    I have a quantum 6 with the bart setup.. The 5.3 setup with selectable mids... You'll love it. I have an OBP-3 that I purchased but haven't found a reason to change it

    I used to have a matching pair of Q5's - fretted and fretless. I had Barts in both - your last option. My wife still tells me they were my best sounding basses.

    My Quantum-4 has EMG (CS?) pickups and the EMG BQS EQ system. I'm very happy with it's sound. I don't find it's tone is sterile or piercing. It cuts through the mix like a bad mutha.
