What Replacement Pickups / Electronics for my DeArmond Pilot Deluxe?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Lokire, Oct 26, 2005.

  1. I have a DeArmond Pilot Deluxe (4-string) that I've been playing quite a bit lately. It was my first real decent bass and even now with my two boutique basses (Ken Lawrence and Elrick) I find that I still really love the DeArmond's tone and playability. So now I'm wanting to swap out the stock pickups and electronics for something that will really bring out and do justice to the tone of the bass. It seems that Bartonlini Soapbars and EMG-40 size pickups are the same size as the cavities (exactly 4 inches long if I remember right) so any pickups in that size would be an option. 5 knobs for the preamp.

What I'm looking for is a pretty strong lower-midrange growl. Simmilar to Warwick Streamers - basically along the lines of Jamiroquai and Incubus. So which pickups/pre would you guys reccommend? :)
  2. *cough* Anyone?
