Hey folks, I'm starting to get into making pickguards for my basses I've been using a scroll saw for the fist couple I made, but I would like to make a template and go with the router route. I have a table router that I use for wood projects but I am wondering what type of bit to use for cutting pickguard material? Unfortunately, I do not have any spare plastic laying around to play with. Is there a special bit for that or can I use any carbide tipped trim bit? Thanks, Jamie
Any regular carbide pattern bit will work for the square edges, but you'll need a chamfer bit for the beveled edges. I have a Diablo chamfer bit from Home Depot for this job. Diablo Chamfer 45-Degree Router Bit-DR40106 - The Home Depot
