Hi, I'm new to the forums, and this is my first post. I was wondering what the best strings are for a Thunderbird Bass, if I was looking for a solid rock sound? Opinions/Suggestions would be awesome!

Roundwounds for sure. Try a set of Slinky's, make sure you put the same guage on that's on now, to avoid set up isssues.

i have a TB as well, and yes,you definatly want to put roundwounds on it.ernie ball's sound the best IMO,but if you don't like bright tone, then you might wanna go with something else.i'd also suggest rotosound 66's or just plain D'addario rounds.

    Roundwounds of your preference.
    I use Rotosounds.
I believe others have too(Martin Turner-Wishbone Ash, John Entwistle-The Who, etc.).
Takes about 6~10 years to eat most-used frets completely to the point of needing work.

I'm not good with terminology, but what size (gauge?) are the strings? Are they 40-60-80-100?

Look no further, everything else is a facsimile. Rotos, preferrably into a HiWatt :bassist:

i love ernie bass stainless steel slinkys. these are easier on the fingers pro steels.

ss round wounds have that extra bite and harmonic content that really cuts thru in a rock band environment.

some people dont like the brightness of ss strings but i figure that you can roll off the top end with the tone control but you cant add some thing back that was never there to begin with.
