I have heard of sodering a capacitor to the input jack of an overdrive or distortion box to let more low end through. does anyone have any ideas on what size I should get??? how about tips on where to connect it???

The input capacitor puts more bass into the effect, the output capacitor has more bass coming out of the effect, which is generally where I make the mod. I swapped my 1uF cap for a 2.2uF cap, and it's a bit bassier, but it's still got the Big Muff tone. I would recommend replacing caps with a slightly higher value, rather than adding some where they don't belong.
