I'm hoping someone can help me, because I think I'm going crazy. I heard about 20 seconds of a cool funk/Motown song this weekend (it was on TV) and I don't know who it was by. I think it's a popular song. I do remember the bass part, so I recorded it. I think I got pretty close. So here is the MP3. Anybody recognize this?

This is going to drive me nuts until I figure out what it is. Kinda like trying to remember the name of a movie that's on the tip of your tongue...

Works from my PC, and my laptop. Maybe you've got to be registered to access it?

    Same here.

Also, you might have to change the extension from .php to .mp3

    :D

    IT IS NOT MOTOWN!!!!

It is "Groove Me" by King Floyd on Malaco Records...I just bought it off iTunes last week.

    For the change, I have-

    /waits till ears quit ringing

    Are you sure?

Could it have been ripped off of a Motown tune?

Did you ask the OP if that was the song he heard?

    :eyebrow:

    Joe.

That's it. Thanks dude. Now I can sleep tonight. :)

  10. It's okay Jim, take it easy. :)

It's a common misconception that any soul music in the 60's and 70's was Motown.

    But yeah, a big +1.
No mistaking that bass line. It's King Floyd.

Here's one that will steam ya Jim. Way back I downloaded that song on a PTP. It was listed as "King Curtis - Groove me" :rollno: So I downloaded it and sure enough, it was the wrong King.

Insidently, did you know he died in March? I found this while looking for information on Malko records

    I'm OK now...
    ;)

I was thinking of a couple comedians as I read through this thread-
Richard Pryor's "What is 'the Motown Sound'? What, what what?!?!"

Then there's the "Thou Shalt Not F*** with Motown"...can't recall who said that.

    ;)

  12. As far as Rap goes this is my favorite track.:D
