I'm looking at replacing the old speakers in my late 70's Fender Bassman 2x15, and I don't know who or where to go. I was thinking of new speakers...unless I can find a pair of JBL D140's for CHEAP:p

    any help......

  3. If you've got D140's why not get them reconed?

Has the best rates I've seen, and you'll be pretty close to the original specs.

Try giving Peter at Liberty Sound a call. He does all my speaker work, and he's a heckuva nice guy too!

I had luck with Eminence products. I'd consider the Beta, Delta or Kappa series. If you get the speakers with stamped frames as opposed to cast frames, it will be a lighter cabinet. consult the eminence website and maybe download a catalog.best prices I've found on Eminence stuff is through Dave at avatarspeakers.com His price was not much more than the wholesale prices I can get. Its a good off the shelf speaker. USED EV's or JBLs can be questionable as far as thier condition. good luck.
You want an reasonably efficient speaker that sounds good for bass, not necessarily for PA.
