What SPEAKON?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by snoopyjc, Aug 16, 2002.

  1. I'd like to add SPEAKON connectors to my SWR SM-400S amp, but there are so many to choose from - 2-pole, 4-pole, 8-pole, etc. What is the standard used for sound equipment of this type?

Not being familiar with the SM-400, how many channels will it carry?

How many cabinets will it go to?

  3. It's a 2-channel amp (biamp), but I'm going to install one connector for each channel.

I just want to know what they usually put on, say, the SWR SM-500 or other similar amps.

    I know that a Bass 750 uses 4-pole speakons.

  5. I just spoke to Andy, and he told me that my Acme had a 4-pole Speakon on it, too. It's wired with + on +1 and - on -1, and the {+2, -2} connections are not used.

Don't ask me why they just don't use a 2-pole speakon!
