What strings does Fender use on its fretless models?

I went to a local store yesterday and was looking at the basses. I keep reading that the frets on Fenders are terrible, have rough edges, need dressing, etc, but these were beautiful. Polished, rounded on the ends, smooth. But, that's beside the point. I played a couple of the fretless models and the mwaaaah was pretty amazing.

My questions, not being very experienced WRT fretless, are:

Do flat-wounds always sound more like this, than round or semi-flat wound strings?

Does this sound change more or less with flatwounds, or round/semi round-wound string?

How does the acoustic sound of a Fender fretless translate to that of an Ibanez Road Gear fretless?

I know the string height makes a difference in how pronounced the fretless sound comes out- who has been able to get the sound without setting the strings too low to be playable?

    Thanks in advance.
