I use and recommend Ernie Ball Slinkys. D'Addarios are good too. I play hard rock/pop and those strings work fine for me.

  3. I have DR Hibeams on my two jazz basses and I really like them. They are very bright at first but mellow nicely in about a week. I don't like them super bright but not dull sounding either. The DR are somewhere right in the middle.
