What strings to put on a Rick Turner Fretless?

So I am getting a 2010 fretless Rick Turner Renaissance 5er after jonesing for one for several years.

The seller thinks it needs a new set of strings.

I know what strings come on them....and they are $100 a set! (yes they are killer...)

I am not sure I want to spend $100 on a set of strings.

Has anyone else tried any other strings in the $40 range that they are happy with on a Rick Turner?
