Looking at the "Who's Online" feature, it seems that there are a whole slew of "Yahoo! Slurp Spiders" listed in with the guests.

    What's that all about?

Looks like I found my own answer.

Not as menacing as I thought, but they still probably could have thought of a better name. :D "Yahoo! Search Agent", or "Yahoo! Indexing Bot". But "Slurp Spider"? That just sounds dirty. :D

A "spider" (aka "Web crawler" or "search robot") is a program that "crawls the Web," following links from site to site and within sites to find what's out there and build a search index.

"Slurp" is the name of Yahoo!'s (actually Inktomi's) spider.

Look here for a list of the more common spiders' names.

    Cheers,
    'rick

EDIT: Intersting timing. You posted your follow-up as I was typing my reply. :)

Yes I've often searched using outside search engines and been directed to a TB page!

TB is being slurped up by Yahoo!!

If anyone read that and didn't giggle, I propose that he or she must be a robot.

Yes it does. I almost did not click on this thread for fear of crude content.
