  1. GAUGES .045-.105
    SOFT TOP/REGULAR BOTTOM
    BASS XL NICKEL ROUND WOUND

This is listed for D'addario XL165 bass strings. What's the deal with the soft top, regular bottom? What does that mean?

    Thanks,
    Chris

OK, strictly by the books, here goes. A Regular gauge XL set goes .050 , .070. ,.085 and .105 (the EXL160 set)
The aforementioned set with softer top strings -.045
replacing the .050, and the .065 replacing the.070.
    is your EXL165 set.
