I've been thinking for a long time about taking the plunge and getting some hum-cancelling pickups -- probably the Fralins --for my Fender '62 reissue Jazz Bass. I have no complaints about the stock pickups, other than the hum, which is unacceptable most of time.

My question is, if I do get the Fralins, how different will the tone be when both pickups are full up? Will it be pretty much the same as my current hum cancelled, two pickup tone, or will it sound noticably less lively? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    TIA

  2. I think that the split "single coils" sound fatter than usual ones.
At least i never heard a split single coil sounding like a single coil.
