I am making an individual bass website shortly and I am puzzled about what to record for my song samples and intro riff to the site.

Is there anything that you think would be cool for it?

    Thank You.

  2. do the beginning to Classical Thump :D that would be a good intro...kinda starts slow and works its way faster

And once you have recorded Classical thump, I want to hear, I've only heard a few other bassists play it, one of them exceptionally well, the others...severely lacking.

  5. I presume Vic's was the "exceptionally well", right? :D Just curious, in which category do you place your rendition? (I know I was impressed...)

My friend erik plays it exceptionally well, he does it slightly different then me and some of the parts he doesn't know, but what he does know he plays really well.

I would say I can play it, and I feel confidant saying I can play it well, not particularly perfect, but not horrendously sloppy, better than good, but worse than great.

    on a scale of (worst)1-10(best), I'd say I can play it at a 7.6 or so :p

ah im still looking for some pieces. Im not quite sure about Classical Thump anymore, the recording of it sounds sloppy and is not a piece to show my best work.

Any cool jazz or blues pieces? I love jazz and blues licks on the bass. I watch Conan for the music :D

I'm watching conan right now. I watch it because he's hilarious, has the best band on TV, the best skits, and the best style.

do you have many originals? why not showcase those?

  11. Hey WR, I wouldn't mind hearing a recording of Classical Thump from you, after listening to some of your stuff last night I'm pretty confident that you will do a good recording of Classical Thump. Also if you maybe want a cool bass solo, listen to the opening of Calm Like A Bomb by RATM, I love playing that bass solo :D Good luck with the recording and website! Let me see the finished results. ~ Tyler

  12. LOL, that's certainly a more in-depth analysis than I expected...7.6, eh, is that like the Richter scale? each 1 interval is mathematically ten times "better" than the one below? So, when are you gonna reach 7.7? :p

Oh, for the record, my Classical Thump falls into the "severely lacking" category...that is, lacking the entire song after the first five seconds

    What about some Jaco pieces?

  15. Ya, how about Portrait of Tracy?

    Stanly Clarke's School Days?

'Versitile Residue' by Lord Only is a good one...
