The bass I'm building is slowly approaching completion and I'll soon be adding the side markers for the fingerboard. The thing is, instead of regular inlaid dots, I'd like to have lines. Not a lined fingerboard, just little "|"s instead of "o"s. Is there some sort of paint or rub-on marking that I could use to get white lines that will be able to hold up?

I've never tried this, but i've heard about drilling a small hole (that's for dot markers, i suppose you could file the small line), then putting a very small amount of nail polish in that line, and then putting the finish over top of that can make a very professional looking marker.

Again, I have no experiance building, this is just a technique i had read about.

I found the side markers on my modulus too small to see on a dark stage and until I can afford fiber optics I had regular front inlay dots installed in place of my side dots.
Here's a picture, I'm sorry I don't have a better one but please disregard the woman in a bikini and concentrate on the large side dots :p
(I don't know what that was on the ninth fret, looks like a little dot but it's either something on the lens or on the neck, but that smaller white dot is not really there)
