I was on moes webpage moe.org and these pics reminded me of the best concert I have ever been to. It was called moedown and it was a non stop concert for two days. Here are a couple pics of les claypool getting schooled by moes bassist rob derhak during the show ( that's my story and I'm sticking to it) Any how let me hear about your best concert experience.
here is another pic. look at the mocking tone on robs face as he makes les look like a little by who just picked up a bass for the first time
For me my best gig so far was Ozomatli. They are amazing live with a really good rapport with the crowds even in the UK. Anyone else seen them live???? www.ozomatli.com Matt
the best concert i've ever been too woul dhave to be: Ted Nugent Deep Purple and the gods themselfs Lynyrd Skynyrd If i leave here tomorrow would you still remember me for i must be traveling on now causes there too many places i've got to see
1. Bruce Springsteen at the Fleetcenter in Boston, August 1999. (There's a reason he's got a reputation for being so good.) 2. U2 at the Worcester Centrum, April 1985. ('Unforgettable Fire' tour. Mind blowing.) 3. Peter Gabriel at the Worcester Centrum, May 1993. (Super theatrical, amazing sounding, and Tony Levin.)
The String Cheese Incident in 1999 I got the chance to see them before they got big. The concert was in a small arts center, and there were only about 900 people there. But they were incredible. The light show was mind dazzling and at the end of the show, one of my friends who was at his first concert turned to me and asked when it would be over. I told him this would probably be their last song. 60 mind blazing minutes later it was over. Man was that concert great. and for whoever the jacka** is, NO I wasn't on any kind of "special" substances
ive been to quite a few, but Tie These Hands is by far the best band ive seen live. They are a local band here, great emo band. You can check em out at mp3.com. the vocals on that cd aren't near as good as they are live, but you get the idea. They do a concert virtually every weekend so i dont have ONE fav. or best concert.
Hey Catwig, we opened for Ozo @ The El Rey Theater in LA in Feb. of last year. They rock. Wil Dog is going to be in the next issue of Bass Player. The best concerts I've ever been to were: Earth, Wind, & Fire - 1977 Parliament/Funkadelic - 1978 Larry Graham - 1997 Rush - 1980 Genesis - 1980 Prince's Purple Rain Tour - 1984 Jamiroquai - '94, '97, & 2000 Primus - 2000
Hey Warwicknut, I am going to the El Rey in December to see Wilco. What's that venue like? Best concert for me: Rolling Stones 1989
there was one year at bumbershoot which i saw a bunch of cool stuff. I saw parliament funcadelic, maceo parker, tony levin, and a bunch of other stuff. I saw flecktones this summer which was awesome. I can't think right now.
There've been some great ones but two that stand out are: Pink Floyd - The Wall at the L.A. Sports Arena 1979 (or was it 1980?). Weather Report w/Jaco - 1980 Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl.
I saw Yes a couple of years ago and that was a great concert. I also saw Phil Keaggy at a small theater and I was blown away, probably the best that I have seen.
the best rock concert would be either the who or one of the 5 times that i've seen the rolling stones. best overall concert was the blues fest 2000. it had b.b. king, kenny wayne shepard, towar of power (don't ask me why they aren't really blues), josh smith and the frost, and alot of other really great players of blues. it was either that or the 2 times i've seen eric clapton.
I'd say the best performance I've ever seen was probably by Neil Young, although Bob Dylan, U2, and The Who ran him close.
I haven't been to a large number of concerts but the best I've been to was Neil Finn when he played here in Adelaide earlier this year. He was fantastic, it felt like I'd known him for years and that the concert was just a big party. I certainly know why Crowded House had a good reputation for being excellent live. Other than that, I'd say the first concert I went to which was Powderfinger down at Victor Harbour (about an hour from Adelaide). It was a very small venue and I had a front row position....right in front of some massive speakers. It was my first experience and it blew me away.
