I have never and probably will never spend over 1500.00 for an instrument. Haven't played one that made the case for the value. Maybe that could change, but I doubt it. In 2004 I bought a Gibson SG and a half stack that totaled near 3,000.00 :)

I kind of know. I spent $2,250 in 1995 for a bolt-on Ken Smith Six. I'm sure that bass would be around $3,300 now. At the time, it was no big deal. I was single and had no one one to worry about but myself.

I suppose since I haven't I shouldn't respond to this thread. That said...

Never have. Never will. Can't justify it. I personally don't think theres much of a difference other than pretty stuff after about $2,000.

Never spent 3k on a bass,.. the most was $1975, and that being said, I've owned 3 Alembics, several Modulii and a Ritter. The Modulus and Ritter are still in the family. Wow! Suddenly I feel frugal !!!! :bag::rollno:

The most I've spent on a bass so far is $1,700 for my '97 Warwick Thumb bolt-on, which I bought this summer. Sometime in the next few years, I'd love to save up and buy a custom-shop Warwick or a vintage 'Wick, which I'm sure are well over $3,000.....
